Aviva offers a comprehensive training program for all staff: paid and unpaid, to provide them with the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively carry out their duties. Due to the nature of the services that Aviva offers, staff may find themselves working in sensitive and confidential situations. Aviva is committed to supporting staff during all phases of their experience.

Session I:
Introductions; discussion of the relationship of Aviva to Child Protective Services
Descriptions of opportunities that Aviva offers: Social Worker Assistants, Visit Supervisors, Mentors, Tutors, Life Book Writers, Holiday and Special Event Activities, Abused Children’s Fund, and the Sun Rider Toy Parade
Forms of abuse: physical, sexual, emotional, and domestic violence
Video presentations and group discussions
Review of mandatory reporting practices.
CPS - organization and functions: Child Safety/Risk Family Centered Practice, case flow, outcomes, timelines, concurrent and permanency planning
Examining how both dependency and criminal justice systems are designed to ensure the safety of children
