A tutor is a reading coach in the life of a child in the Child Protective Services system who is typically one semester or full school year behind. The Tutor will meet with the teachers and or CPS case workers to determine the exact nature of the help the child needs.  It may be listening to the child read out loud and practice his or her spelling words or helping with basic math. The Tutor needs to commit to meeting with the child once or twice a week for a minimum of one semester.  The Tutor will go to the school or on occasion to the child's home. The Tutor also has the opportunity to build a positive relationship with a child who has been removed from their home and may be placed in a group home or foster home..

Tutor Requirements:

• At Least 20 years of age
• Consistent and reliable
• Commitment: One Semester
• No Criminal history; safe driving record
